Shimao Shenzhen 300-meter super-high-rise tower

SMPS is another mix-use project I’ve mainly designed in CRTKL. The project is composed of a commercial podium building and a 300-meter high-rise tower and the tower is the center of the whole area. We adopted the shape of rotating contraction, which gives the building a dynamic rising. However, this posed a challenge to the plane and curtain wall. For the floor plan, the owners required the utility rate of each floor to be more than 75%, so I adopted the cross-core tube. I work closely with structural engineers and electromechanical consultants. So we skillfully arranged the structure, electromechanical pipe wells, and stair elevators to be converted between different areas. At last, we realized the core tube design of low zone square, middle zone octagon, and high zone cruciform. This core tube not only maximizes the utility rate but also harmonizes well with the form of the building. It made the architectural plains easy to divide and practical. For the curtain wall, I adopted the cold curved glass for refuge to the maximum extent through shape analysis on the premise of maintaining the facade effect, which saves the cost. The owners were greatly satisfied with us and promised to give us the right to design the second phase of the site.
