I don't mind divergent opinions as long as they are intelligent and thoughtful. What has been going on here in recent weeks is not thoughtful OR intelligent... it's just a plain flame war. What's really sad is this site is/was used as an honest to God resource for many. Paul, Alex and the rest of the poster spent many hours building up this websites reputation. It received lots of money from people to advertise their services, products, etc. but now that the number of flamers and trolls has gone up in recent weeks/months I fear these people who basically pay the bills will pull their money out of this project because it's no longer worthwhile. Thanks kids for ruining a great resource.

My theory is that some of the frequent posters in this forum are probably the same climate "scientists" that contributed to the "gloabl warming" hoax.

The lack of viable "connective tissue" to the propositions that are made are enough to convince me that there really isn't a shred of evidence to back up the same propositions.

Also just because someone spends a relatively outrageous amount of time to dig up some photograph of one of the posters her is further evidence that many of the propositions on the forum simply can not be taken too seriously.

marm, totally agree. it seems like just a year or two ago this fourm still had it's integrity, and I always found it curious that the crappiest aspects of the internet hadn't caught up to it. it seems like now they have.

i'd say the integrity is still there, just that some times things get completely derailed off topic to the point where whole threads are over before they even begin

Just to clarify for those who are wondering where this thread is coming from, there was a thread yesterday which was subsequently deleted by the moderators which contained racist language and comments which offended people on this forum, myself included... It's not just the political nature of the posts, it's the use of racial slurs or rhetoric.

Sorry, Piggy, Archinect Technician, didn't mean to rail on you guys so much yesterday... I appreciate some of your contributions to the forum, but please try to tone down the personal attacks or racist language. I fully appreciate that the forum needs to remain open to diverse political points of view, and should not marginalize based on politics, but realize that there are some kinds of rhetoric that are not generally acceptable by our society and most settings, regardless of political affiliation...

IMHO posts containing racist or sexist language or discriminatory attacks targeting individuals or groups should be deleted. This would be to the benefit of this forum... I think there are certain areas where deleting inappropriate comments should be happen: where content promotes hate or discrimination, or pornographic or obscene content, or spam, as there is a legal basis for filtering against hate speach because if it causes groups based on race, creed, or religion to be marginalized, and obscenities and pornography also. If the forum wants to remain a useful and open forum, that kind of content should be filtered for both legal reasons and relevance to the forum... It doesn't contribute to anything and it actually alienates most people on the forums. It only promotes the forum going to the gutter...
