If I make improper suggestions
Would you find that a risk to your health
Would you put me up on the bookself
With the books and the plants?

You got me on this one SW.

So, being the oldest child, I never had a big brother to teach me dirty words, and all the ins and outs of baseball, and how to screw around, etc... But when I got my second job, working at an icecream shop, I met my big brother from a different mother. His name was Corey, and calling him rough around the edges is probably the nicest thing I could say about the guy. He taught me dirty baseball strategy, like when to peg the batter. He taught me how to talk my way into a girl's pants. He taught me new ways to combine swear words, like "son of a bitch bastard!" and "you cocksuckin' motherfucker" etc... But most importantly Corey taught me about classic rock. Up till that point my repertoire consisted of Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath. Corey opened up the world of classic rock to me. He single-handedly introduced me to Steve Miller, James Gang, Free, Thin Lizzy, Bad Company, Joe Walsh, and many, many others. And he did it in a great way. We would listen to the classic rock station, and whoever named the song and artist first got to hit the other guy in the arm. Not a bad deal, except Corey was 10 years older than me, and used to play AAA. I was a scrawny 17 year old who was an artist, not an athlete. And he knew all the songs, which I had never heard before. Pain is a great motivator. In a two week span I could name every song and artist on the classic rock station, and by about 3 weeks I got to the point where I would beat him half the time.

Corey was a big brother to me. And let me re-emphasize the word WAS. Corey drank himself to death exactly 2 1/2 years ago today. I know this is a little off subject, but I just wanted to remember Corey for a moment, and I thought this thread would be a great place to do it. Its raining tonight, so I can't go visit him. Corey, you will never be forgotten, buddy. May you rest in peace.

love the punniness of this lyric:

could i interest you in a little something special?
pay the earth
but if you have no money
your attention'll do

and if you don't give a damn, well...
you're welcome to keep it

it's a hard road when you know where you're going
and it's harder when you know where you're not

so i'll stamp my clay feet
till the staggering stops

but good god give me strength to face
another lazy day of
"if i was a millionaire
i'd be a million miles from here"

the hands of the clock
give me a round of applause
for getting out of bed and the
scars of the night before have turned into
scabs and still i'm seeing double

i'm looking twice my age it's
getting to the stage
where

i'm old, not wise, just worried

and stories of rags to riches leave me in stitches
and with a
thread that's hard to follow

you came into my life like a brick through a window
and i cracked a smile

who
remembers the good old games
that seemed to fill our days
like a kiss, cuddle and torture and
i-spy, s-p-i-t in your eye

those around me who came up trumps
would always get down on their knees to brag

wow i suck at guessing lyrics... i dont know any of these songs... actually its just a measure of how small my musical window is...
we had a prof who would quote often

'engineers know everything about nothing, and architects know nothing about everything'

i am definitely an engineer when it comes to my musical taste

damnit...you're far too sophiticated for me SW. Give me 80's cheesy pop or hair band and I'll get you every time. I would have never thought of this band though (I cheated).

I think i need to join the CD swap and get some SW's musical genius my way...

...btw, i love "jangly guitars".

Well, this seemed to die off. And so to kill it indefinitely I will use the single greatest country song ever written.

I was drunk
The day my mom
Got out of prison
And I went
To pick her up
In the RAAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNN
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned ol' TRAAAAAAAAIIIIINNNNNN!

And I will hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing in the rain
And you don't have to call me darlin', darlin.
...

Good luck, yankees.

you don't even call me by my name (or 'the perfect country song') by david allan coe - who ALSO happens to be covered on the new shivaree album (all covers) i mentioned on some other thread.

when she's in demand
her schemes and plans...

Well played SW. I'm quite surprised with your reply. I'm pretty sure that's a complete 180. I can't answer it, though. I know EXACTLY what it is, but I've got a final in 3 hours, and I'm heading to the lake straight from school. Won't be back till monday, which is also moving day. It may be a week before I can get back on. I'm sure WTD will snag this one in a hurry. Or perhaps MAD. He's a self-professed fan of that artist.

Well, now I've gotta get that song out of my head, and go meet my study group. You guys have a great weekend!

just stopping by archinect quickly to sing...
Billie Jean is not my lover
::::::::

now, this one truly is the greatest song in the world! It will be easy, if you know the band, as I posted the whole thing...but what's the real title?

Long time ago me and my brother Kyle here,...
we was hitchhikin' down a long and lonesome road.
All of a sudden,
there shined a shiny demon...
in the middle...
of the road.

And he said:
"Play the best song in the world,
or I'll eat your souls (whisper:Souls)."

Well me and Kyle,... we looked at each other,
and we each said...
"Okay."

And we played the first thing that came to our heads,
Just so happened to be,
The Best Song in the World,
it was The Best Song in the World.

Look into my eyes and it's easy to see
One and one make two,
two and one make three,
It was destiny.

Once every hundred-thousand years or so,
When the sun doth shine and the moon doth glow
and the grass doth grow oooh

Needless to say,
the beast was stunned.
Whip-crack went his swampy tail,
And the beast was done.
He asked us:
"(snort) BE you angels?"
And we said,
"Nay.
We are but men
rock!!!!"
Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahh,
Ohhh, whoah, ah-whoah-oh!

This is not The Greatest Song in the World, No
This is just a tribute.
Couldn't remember The Greatest Song in the World, No.
No!
This is a tribute, oh,
To The Greatest Song in the World,
All right!
It was The Greatest Song in the World,
All right!
And it was the best mother fuckin' song,
The Greatest Song in the world!

Allllllright!
'Ti Tuga digga tu Gi Friba fligugibu Uh Fligugigbu Uh Di Ei Friba Du Gi Fligu fligugigugi Flilibili Ah
(Bow) (Bow) (Bow) (Ooh) (Bow) (Bi)
Fligu wene mamamana Lucifer!
(Mene) (LUCIFER)!
(guitar solo)
And the peculiar thing is this my friends:
the song we sang on that fateful night it didn't actually sound
anything like this song!

This is just a tribute!
You gotta believe me!
And I wish you were there!
Just a matter of opinion.
Ah, fuck!
Good God, God lovin' ,
So surprised to find you can't stop me,now.
I'm on fire--
O hallelujah I'm found! Rich motherfucker compadre simultaniously:oooh/(Demonic)aaaaah!
All right!
All right!

Do yourself a favor and watch the video. Have fun...I probably won't be back on today...

wild horses rolling stones. i'm better at remembering lyrics to songs i hate

try this semi-hit:
It's a feelin' that I get sometimes
When I'm lyin' in my bed sometimes
Black cloud in my head sometimes
Intoxicating my mind, my mind
It's not that I wanna die
Baby just that I wanna fly
But this feelin' that I get sometimes
I could sever all ties, all ties

back from the dead with one of my favorite songs

You get the car
I'll get the night off
You'll get the chance to take the world apart and figure out how it works
Don't let me know what you find out
I need a car
You need a guide
Who needs a map
If I don't die or worse I'm gonna need a nap
At best I'll be asleep when you get back

fine then another

she was only 2
the first time she felt blue...
cafeteria, Harrison elementary
beneath a parachute,
i saw her without shoes...

seven up
i touched her thumb
and she knew it was me
although she couldn't see
unless of course she peaked

I knew those where both built to spill songs, but I had to google to get the title of the second one.

"Car" and "twin falls"

Here's mine:

It’s just a life story, so there’s no climax.
No more new territory, so pull away the imax.
In the slot that you sliced through the scene there was no shyness.
In the plot that you passed through your teeth there was no pity.
No fade in: film begins on a kid in the big city.
And no cut to a costly parade (that’s for him only!).
No dissolve to a sliver of grey (that’s his new lady!)
where she glows just like grain on the flickering pane of some great movie.
