Cool Baby Boys Names

114
HeiberKalmar

I've always found imbalanced syllabic relationships between first and last names to be most "appealing", especially if there's some sort of tonal contrast or rhythm between the two words (middle names are indeed too bourgeois, plus only get pronounced at roll call or reprimanding).

Gideon Stark
Elijah Stark
Ellington Stark
Alexander Stark
Templeton Stark
Finnegan Stark
Nicholas Stark

Haven't had to make this type of decision yet in my life (congrats!!!), although I look forward to it I think it's a difficult decision to make. there's something oddly tangible about a name once it starts to develop a relationship with a person's character that seems to make the task daunting, it's the vessel that holds a person's personality, experiences, ancestry……

Perhaps an alternative way to chose your son's name might be to take a glance in the mirror and try to rename yourself...

Seriously, I know how difficult naming a baby boy is - girls tend to be easier. I do like Axel though.

how about a little ceremony?
it takes a place when baby is put next to his mother in bed for the first time.
close family in the room and the oldest person, usually a grandparent, reads little a prayer next to the baby and whispers the given name three times to baby's right ear. the whole thing takes about 5-10 minutes, thus the name takes effect.
this is an anatolian tradition.
i think it is important to mark name giving with a ceremony.

I humbly propose 'Steven Stark'. Looks cool.

Or you might try 'Dirk Stark'. In which case you can raise him on the timeless track by Adam Ant 'Dirk Wears White Sox' - sure to make him love you forever.

By the way, Stark, were you surreptitiously proposing LINUS in your initial request? I dig it.

hahaha Jam, you have a point there... perhaps the lad will just have my middle name for his middle name... Replacing Girl with Geek should at least alleviate the gender role issue he was sure to grow up with... ;)

For the last couple days at 10 o'clock and 3 o'clock this name keeps jumping around my brain. I'm sure it is a sign that this is the name for you and that good luck will always flow through his life:

I used the name Halsey Taylor for a "band" we had in high school. I love it. Named ourselves after the drinking fountain. We ripped the decals off fountains at school.

I second Halsey Taylor.

HOW ABOUT

CONWELL EMERSON STARK

Nov 23, 04 8:12 pm  ·
 ·

My wife and I are considering this same question a little bit right now. (Don't know M/F yet.)

Most names can be twisted and mocked in some way, but beware of names which can be tweaked easily. We have 'Tillman' as a family name, but my father said that the most recent Tillman grew up suffering through 'Tilly'. 'Conwell' may be too easy to make into 'Connie'. You may be OK with that.

You could switch'em: Emerson Conwell Stark.

Maybey you should start with the initials...

You might Avoid:

Addison Simon Stark (ASS)
or
Adam Stanley Stark (ASS)

William Ulrich Stark (WUS)
or
Peter Upton Stark (PUS)

The kiddies will just add a "Y" and have some fun...

What is your ancestry?

If you are into Etymology, you might try:
