I am a design architect with an aptitude for bringing together the spatial, aesthetic, logical and ethical aspects of architectural projects to deliver refined spaces and atmospheres.
I am currently based Europe, working worldwide on architectural and interiors projects. I am also a freelance writer working in the areas of design, architecture and interiors.
I am currently working as a Senior Architect and Interior Design Leader at Oppenheim Architecture Europe, focused on commercial and residential projects. Previously, I spent five years with Auckland practice Fearon Hay, specialising in Hotel/Hospitality and Multi-Residential projects
In 2015 I founded Portico, a website for aspiring architects, providing resources, inspiration and support for aspiring architects on their unique architecture journeys. Portico goes beyond standard 'how-to' resources, seeking to make architectural education accessible, and grappling with specific aspects including mental health, tutor relationships and career decisions. Portico has provided a platform for a broad, international network of aspiring architects to connect, reach out, and extend their knowledge and design thinking.
My independent research focuses on relationships between architectural practice and education. In particular, I am interested in and in how a sense of self is cultivated through and plays a part in design processes, and how the how relationships between learning, doing, and experiencing affect how we produce architecture. I am also interested in the contexts and values that inform architectural practice. I take great joy in teaching and supporting student and young architect development, and in investigating alternative pedagogies that facilitate richer outcomes for students. I hope to pursue further research in these areas in the future.
