Al Helal Chalet

Al Helal Chalet is the transition between the city and the sea, the daily life and how we should take advantage of the nature, this chalet is where all these different activities converge. It is located in Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City, Kuwait. It is a city where developers bring the sea water into the desert, As a result, a kind of little ports where shaped. As  designers we call this action interpenetration, where, as a tectonic we got were two elements, water and sand, solid and transparent.

The same idea we translate into our design where the interpenetration between activities and the built environment gave us the possibility to shape our space. As the water runs into the sea, our activities pretended to run through the project. As a metaphor, We create a solid volume that faces to the city and it is opened to sea, we also create a waterfall and a pool. The project clearly shows the transition between the heaviness of the city and the peace of the beach not only as a concept but as a morphology as well.

To achieve this fluidity inside the project we worked with rounded corners, voids that brings light and we place on it some concepts about the infinite space of Mies Van Der Rohe, Interpenetration of space, solid and transparency, transitions between activities and fluid spaces were the ideas that have given shape to Al Helal Chalet.
