Always Double Check That Movie Title...

vado retro

Okay so while recuperating from my fever this weekend i stopped by the local indie dvd store. well yesterday i thought i had picked up enough to last me the weekend. Since i was weak i figured i'd maybe watch a movie, two at the most. what i did was pick up the first two dvd of hbo's the wire, season 1, eleven episodes total. well hell i watched them all already and so i went to get the final disc along with the recent flick 'downfall" about adolf h. hitler. anyway changed into sweats and got ready to pop the wire in and....wait its "dorm life 4" from the adult/gay section. jeepers...

I just saw THE PASENGER a 1972 film starring Jack Nicholson directed by Michelangelo Antiolini --- just a wonderful film. Morrocco, London, Munich, Barcelona - all filmed at relaxed pace with no special effects -- just extremely talented filmaking and acting -- buy it.

Since vado raised the topic with his accidental movie rental, here are some examples of my favorite kind of porn:

Storm porn! I can't help it, I love looking at images of buildings damaged/destroyed by acts of nature!

I know this kind of damage is virtually always accompanied by suffering and loss by humans of personal property and even lives. This isn't schadenfreude, I an very empathetic to other people's losses. I just also love looking - in a more scientific way - at how buildings come apart under stress.

Here is the damage a high wind/hailstorm of a few weeks ago inflicted on the Regions Bank building in downtown Indianapolis.

I love the way the curtain wall is peeled away like skin in the second picture down. And that sad palm tree and the awards on the office desk, just hanging next to open 17 story space...so cool.

No I did not take these pics.

so, if you have a window office, be careful what you leave on your desk overnight? (your favorite videotapes, if they would make the palm blush?)

lb, you like demolition snippets, too? http://images.google.com/images?q=demolition+building
the subject goes full circle http://images.google.com/images?q=demolition+ball

oh the passenger
oh how he rides
oh the passenger
he rides and he rides
he looks through his window
what does he see?
he sees the bright and hollow sky
he sees the stars come out tonight
he sees the city's ripped backsides
he sees the winding ocean drive
and everything was made for you and me
all of it was made for you and me
'cause it just belongs to you and me
so let's take a ride
and see what's mine
singing la la la la lalalala
