Exterior Stone Tile?

farwest1

A residential client of ours on an otherwise very cool home is insisting on using stone tile for some of the siding. He likes the look of slate particularly.

The connotation of this for me is some pretty ugly slate slapped onto the surface of corporate banks.

Does anyone know of any nice projects that use stone tile, maybe with interesting details? I like the Allston Branch Library that Machado and Silvetti did.

Others? Good sources for details?

if your client particularly likes the look of slate, check out the new addition to the UVA School af Architecture, which has an entire southern wall of slate tiles. Construction images can be found here under the "gallery" link

come to think of it, I dont think that stone has ever been used successfully as a cladding...I would spec stucco and be done with it
