awol, don't forget slashes and back slashes used the same way as your parantheses: sprinkle gratuitously to either divide a single word or needlessly call out a juxtaposition!

dis/connect

both/and

fucking/annoying

NoSleep, I'm at Cincy. My class put together that jargon video (and a bunch of other videos about the jargon) as protest instead of writing end-of-quarter papers. Some profs were a little unhappy...it was glorious.

I don't like it when my teacher uses the word "no"...as in...

that could be straighter,no? we need to work on craft, no?( w/ emphasis on "no")

Yuck!!! That demeanor of speech needs to be shipped that back to the graduate school in New York from which it came.

"the holocaust is interesting..."

"at the end of the day..."

"its amazing how much you can do in 48 hours" - said by prof roughly 48 hours before final presentations.

"its amazing how little I got done in 72 hours" - said by me.

There's a word game at our school, the students agree on a word that everybody will have to use at some point in their presentation.

HITW ll - we used to play the opposite game, before your presentation, tell your friends the secret word, it should be a word that you can't say, but you have to trick the critics into saying it. Lots of fun and keeps everybody interested.

i'm a fan of the "kind of's" and "sort of's" in the archietctural world. once had a prof use "kind of" 165 times in a one hour lecture. yes, i counted.

no way, the IT word in any relevant architecture school for the past year or more has been

NEGOTIATE

can't believe it hasn't been mentioned in the discussion yet

"you need to negotiate the conditions..."
"the way you negotiate between the specific form and the outcome of the propagation of the rule..."
"negotiate negotiate negotiate negotiate"

just came back from final reviews at AA DRL and every single person in the critics panel, except for F. Roche, just went on riding that stupid word, like it meant something... and that's by far not the only school I've heard it at, so many people everywhere got hooked on it...

so sick of that one.

Words help you think. There are tools and weapons.
If you degrade the words, you degrade the work, and the opportunities.

If you degrade the words, you degrade the work,(???)

I don't think the two are necessarily related.

So...if you use cliches to describe the work, does that mean the work is cliched?

Do they teach Wittgenstein in an architecture class? I am only taking lower level classes right now...

But that would be cool...like an upper level class in philosophy as it relates to architectural theory and practice.
