Donghwan Kim is currently working as a Graduate Research Assistant from School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, researching on sustainable design, historic preservation, and energy retrofit. He is the second year M.Arch II Student, especially majoring in Sustainable Design at the University of Texas at Austin. He previously graduated from University of Seoul in 2012 with a Bachelor of Architecture.
Donghwan had 4-year experiences as an assistant manager at Chang-jo Architects in Seoul from 2012 to 2016. Most of the work experiences, he especially was involved in the team designing a 'Grand intercontinental Seoul Parnas hotel renovation' project. The Parnas tower project was completed at August in 2016, which received LEED Gold certification in 2017, and Coex Mall remodeling project also received LEED Silver certification in 2015.
He specifically starts focusing on sustainable design for human and natural environment, for example, a facade system of tower, regenerative architecture, energy efficiency, public space, and renovation.
He is also interested in travel, photography, citys, and independent books.
