My name is Steven Sze and I am an Architectural Designer in NYC
I received my Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a minor in Studio Art (Photography) from The Ohio State University in 2009 and my Master of Architecture from Parsons The New School for Design in 2011 where I participated in the school’s design build project.
Since then, I have worked at Meier Partners, Marmol Radziner, and S9 Architecture. At Meier Partners, starting in the model shop allowed me to develop the rigor and meticulous attention to detail that the firm pursues in every project. In the design studio, I primarily worked on high-end residential buildings, working on projects from concept through construction administration being involved in everything from 2D/3D design and documentation, producing and delivering façade packages, reviewing shop drawings and RFIs. At Marmol Radziner, I helped start and establish the firm’s NYC office as a Job Captain. While there, I further developed technical, communication, and management skills as collaboration with client, consultants, and contractors were part of the everyday. Clear and precise communication was necessary in my role to ensure that the projects came together and met the firm’s high standards. Most Recently at S9, I worked on phase one of the Willets Point development which is one of the largest 100% affordable housing projects in NYC, consisting of 1000 units and almost one million square feet gross area. My responsibilities were primarily with the coordination of consultants to make sure such a large project went together smoothly. My experience throughout my career has allowed me to design in a manner that is conceptually rich yet still feasible and practical.

In 2010, The Parsons Design workshop was commissioned to transform a derelict field house into a usable community space by the New York City Parks Department. As a design build, I was involved in everything from the design process to the fabrication of components. Specific responsibilities I had during this project were:
Digitally modeling project for rendering purposes
Drafting of construction documents
Photographing and documented site, physical models, and construction process
Fabrication of project components

After receiving my Bachelors of Science in Architecture at The Ohio State Univeristy, I was enrolled in the 2nd year of the 3 year program at Parsons The New School for Design. There I participated in the 2010 Design Workshop, traveled to Shanghai for a studio project, completed my Albany based thesis project, and received my Master of Architecture.
