My name is Jiyoon Hwang, and I recently graduated from Columbia University GSAPP as a Master's student in Advanced Architectural Design. I have an OPT+STEM visa and already possess my Employment Authorization Card, enabling me to start working from June 1st. I have a deep passion for creating resilient,community-focused architecture and urban designs that positively impact people’s lives, based on research.
Before starting my master's program, I completed four internships as a Designer and Assistant Researcher at Seoul National University in South Korea from 2019 to 2022, gradually developing my skills through these experiences. I worked on projects encompassing residences, interior design, museums, hotels, and sports facilities. My responsibilities included CAD modeling, program research, developing construction plans for housing, communicating with partner companies, and facilitating client meetings.
Participated in various design processes of 5+ projects, from schematic design to construction document.
SD to DD 1 sports facilities, 1 hotel, 1 museum, 1 headquarter renovation
DD to CD 2 affordable housing, 1 single housing
My proficiency in Rhino, AutoCAD, and Enscape allows me to create designs that cater to various scales, represented through spatial research and visual representation. My portfolio demonstrates a deep interest in multi-scale design, encompassing site-specific projects ranging from smaller-scale playful machines that interact with the landscape to a larger-scale watershed master plan that addresses salt marsh degradation.
