RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulate preliminary space plans, design concept studies and sketches that integrate the client's needs and are based on knowledge of the principles of interior design and theories of human behavior; appropriately convey conceptual, functional, life-cycle performance, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Research, analysis, coordinate and develop all contract documents including: design presentations, moodboards, 3D Models & Visualization, rendered floorplans and elevations, specifications and drawings, full set of construction drawings, specification packages, custom furniture design and documentation
  • Prepare specifications and schedules with accurate product information for all millwork, casework, appliances, plumbing, hardware finishes, and accessories
  • Prepare construction documents, consisting of plans, elevations, details and specifications, to illustrate non-structural and/or non-seismic partition layouts; power and communications locations; reflected ceiling plans and lighting designs; materials and finishes
  • Lead team in performing field visits/measurements and construction administration services including site visits, responding to RFIs, reviewing control samples and shop drawings, coordinating with consultants, manufacturers, and contractors, and completing punch list
  • Preparation of construction documents to adhere to regional building and fire codes, municipal codes, and any other jurisdictional statutes, regulations and guidelines applicable to the interior space.
  • Manage the interior design resource library and maintain vendor contacts for interior furnishings, fixtures and finishes
  • Coordination and collaboration with other design professionals who may be retained to provide consulting services, including but not limited to architects, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, and various specialty consultants
  • Observation and reporting on the implementation of projects while in progress and upon completion, as a representative of and on behalf of the client; and punch list items
  • Prepare project cost, fee analysis and proposals, and oversee and review project billings with consideration of roles, responsibilities and add service requests as outlines in project contract
  • Efficiently manage project designers, design assistants, and interns on team; demonstrate strong managerial and communication skills
  • Work with Principal and Director to review scope, schedule, budget, staffing needs, and project milestones

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design
  • Minimum of 7 years interior design experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Interior Architecture (IA) scopes in residential and hospitality design standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, Microsoft Suite, Sketchup (or similar 3D modeling software)
  • Strong experience in management and coordination of construction drawing sets with strong knowledge of construction detailing, materials, methods, fabrication, interior finishes, programing and codes
  • Experience selecting and specifying cabinetry, stone scopes, appliances, plumbing fixtures, door and cabinetry hardware, materials, and interior finishes.
  • Must have excellent customer service and public speaking skills; be comfortable in interfacing with clients, consultants, vendors and internal staff
  • Ability to field measure and document building condition
  • Ability to interact effectively with the design team on multiple projects
  • Ability to manage a team of junior designers through strong leadership, communication, collaboration, motivation, and mentorship

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

  • This position will be working in a typical office setting, with no extremes in temperature or lighting
  • Able to occasionally travel and present at offsite locations in the Bay Area
  • Applicants should be able to work with equipment typically found in an office and should be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation. Possible accommodations needed should be discussed prior to the onset of employment and/or the interview process
  • Ability to lift 25lbs and transport items in and out of vehicles. Ability to work on feet/run errands for 4+ hours per day as needed. Ability to sit at a desk for 6+ hours per day
