- Some kind of networking tool will establish a new way of connecting A to B
- Tesla will announce a partnership with Mercedes to produce an electric smart car.
- The Segway will not feature prominently in 2009
- The internet will continue to grow. Websites collating and publishing the press releases of designers and architects will continue to thrive.
- Press releases will gain sentience
- The price point for 3D printers will edge them closer to viable consumer items leading to a worldwide crisis for toy manufacturers and distribution channels.
- Several online newspapers will disappear or go back behind paywalls as advertising revenue dries up.
- Adobe Flash CS5 will introduce technology enabling online advertisments to reach out from the screen, grab your face, point it in the direction of the screen and pry your eyelids open.
- News that Australian PM Kevin Rudd may not be the environmental/social saviour advertised to the electorate will begin to sink in.
- The NSW State government will bumble along, leaving public transport infrastructure disaster wherever it casts its eyes.
- Following too many Christmas drinks and a week at the beach, consumer confidence will be regained and architects will find themselves in jobs again.
- New obscure European architecture journals will turn up in Sydney, humbling those that flick through their pages.
- Arriving back at Earth, Cylons and humans will work their shit out. For the time being at least.
- Buildings will be built.
- MVRDV will publish a book.
- BIG will continue to astound.
- The Large Hadron Collider, repaired, will whisper the secrets of the universe to humanity while it is sucked into a black hole under Switzerland.
- Japan's forests will be replaced with charmingly placed pot plants of various sizes containing twigs and paper flowers.
- Japan will reach a singularity of white on white on white. SANAA will build a house with 80gsm paper walls. 9H pencil lines will be used for fixings.
- 2010 will be better.
