RETRO POST #03: 3D Terrain Modeling
From my personal blog (before Archinect)

** 01/13/05 NOTE: Little did I know this would come in VERY handy while preparing a SurfCAM-able terrain for Eric Cheong's thesis.

Found a better way than using formZ to create terrain models at CADtutor.net. 3D Studio VIZ (not sure about MAX) has an AEC tool for creating terrains. Another method is to use AutoCAD with Key Terra-Firma and the other terrain tutorials at CADtutor.net: Ground Modeling, Volumetrics, and Sections. Last but not least, AutoDESK also produces Land Desktop.
