As part of the interview process, each candidate will give a public presentation to the School, and all students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend. The presentations will be held at 12pm in the 4300 Octagon in the A+A Building. The final candidates for the Assistant Professor position are as follows:
Kelly Bair, Wednesday, March 2
Kelly Bair is principal of Los Angeles-based grayarea, a design and research studio committed to exploring the fuzzy boundaries between a multitude of design disciplines. She is currently a Lecturer at UCLA and holds adjunct faculty appointments at SCI-Arc and Woodbury University where she teaches visual/technology seminars and design studios. She holds degrees from UCLA and the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Stewart Hicks, Monday, March 7
Stewart Hicks is currently Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds degrees from Princeton and the University of Michigan, where he was previously a Lecturer. He is a founding partner of the Ann Arbor-based firm Mitnick Roddier Hicks, whose work has been featured as part of the Emerging Practices series in Architectural Record.
Reto Geiser, Monday, March 14
Reto Geiser is currently a Lecturer at ETH Zurich and a former William Uschenheim Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Michigan. Most recently, he has completed a PhD in History and Theory of Architecture at ETH Zurich. Geiser worked for Diller + Scofidio, Sanford Kwinter, and Bruce Mau Design before co-founding MG&Co. in Basel. MG&Co is a collaborative practice that focuses on the intersections and overlaps between architecture, installation, textiles, and typography.
Luis Ortega, Monday, March 28
Luis Ortega is Principal of F451 Arquitectura in Barcelona and is currently an Assistant Professor at ETSAB in Barcelona. He holds degrees from Columbia University, ETSAB, and the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. Orgtega has previously taught at Harvard, Escola d’Arquitectura La Salle in Barcelona, Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien, and ETSAM in Madrid, and is a former editor of Quaderns, the journal of the Association of Architects of Catalonia.
Branden Hookway, Wednesday, March 30
Branden Hookway is author of Pandemonium: The Rise of Predatory Locales in the Postwar World and his work has also appeared in publications such as Log and AD. He has taught at the Pratt Institute, Rice University, Princeton University, and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Cornell. Hookway holds an MArch from Rice University and is currently a PhD candidate in architecture at Princeton University. His thesis is entitled, “Interface: A Genealogy of Mediation and Control.”
Paul Andersen, Wednesday, April 6
Paul Andersen is director of !ndie Architecture, a Denver-based office that develops new design strategies and aesthetic directions for suburbia. He has previously taught at Harvard, UCLA, and Cornell University, and has been a guest curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver. He holds degrees from UCLA and the University of Pennsylvania.

I would post the job requirements for this and see how these candidates stack up against what was called out in the job description. I don't have it but UIC was asking for a great deal: international practice, published contributions to technical know how, international awards, international reputation, etc..
I found it. I think it's fair to post this so people can then judge the candidates based upon the criteria:
Professor-in-Practice, to be filled at the rank of Full or Associate Professor with tenure. The School seeks an internationally-recognized designer with an active practice to teach advanced and foundational studios. The successful candidate will have an extensive history of exhibited and award-winning work that demonstrates a commitment to realizing experimental design propositions, and will be fluent in negotiating the borders of advanced disciplinary and professional contexts. The position may be filled as either a full-time or part-time appointment, depending on the obligations of the successful candidate’s practice.
Assistant Professor (full-time, tenure-track), or Clinical Assistant Professor (with an initial term of one to three years, part-time and full-time), to teach design studios, lecture courses, and seminars at the graduate and undergraduate level. In addition to a successful record of studio instruction, the candidate must identify experience and accomplishment in a second area, preferably either digital and building technologies, or contemporary criticism and history/theory.
Who of these people has been internationally recognized? What does that mean?
I believe that these people are interviewing for the assistant professor position, not the professor-in-practice one.
I will try and find out exactly what position is in question.
I believe that proof of "international recognition" is on the candidates. They need to show that they have been recognized by foreign interests. Whatever that may mean, awards, published works, built works, etc.
Candidate Stewart Hicks is going to be a guest at our weekly studio pinup on Monday. I will grill him to get some more information.
