Bio:
Damon Rich is the urban designer for the City of Newark, New Jersey, and founder of the Center for Urban Pedagogy (CUP), a nonprofit organization that educates communities about places and how they work. Damon has taught design at the Parsons School of Design, Heritage High School, the Brooklyn Museum, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, and the Queens Library Adult Learning Center. He writes about architecture and politics for publications including the Village Voice, the Nation, Metropolis, and Architecture magazine. In 2006-2007, Damon served as a Loeb Fellow at the Graduate School of Design and an Artist-in-Residence at MIT's Center for Advanced Visual Studies. He trained as an architect at Columbia University, and previously was the Chief of Staff for Capital Projects at the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.
