A new Timbuk2 bag made out of ballistic nylon. The corrdura is f'ing my shirts! Batman Begins on DVD. Digitech GNX4 multi effects processor/amp modeler. But it's expensive. I really want the RP2000 or the GNX2, but they have both been discontinued. The GNX3 is similar to the GNX4, but the 4 has USB output for recording and the GNX3 has S/PDIF, what's that all about!?

Anyone have any affordable gift ideas for well-traveled and intelligent friends? I'm having a really hard time coming up with stuff to give this year....normally I'm pretty creative, but I'm kind of at a loss this time around. Too much work has fried my brain.

Post whatever you've got, I'm desperate...

Okay guys and gals (and something PC to call people who don't want to pick a side); I have an official request for archinect. (btw, the following is not catharsis, simply trying to give background for that 'perfect gift') .

My mom and stepdad divorced a year and a half ago. Step dad is a townie in a very small town and probably will always be so. He drinks more than he should and frankly needs to change his life.Things are fine now, he runs a mildly succesful business and is mayor (it's a part time job where I'm from), but I worry about the future.

As the only one in the family who both worries excessively AND still cares about him, I feel it is my duty to introduce to him some hobby that might get him to step outside himself and his static world for the first time in his life. My shopping is entirely online this year (no time no time no time), and I am of the $20-40 budget.

Also, if there are any humorous (NOT sentimental) books to post divorce survival you could recommend.

Hopefully you worldly people of archinect have some great recommendations.
