Interesting FWD from Design New Haven . org:

---------

Central New Haven has a population density equivalent to Chicago and Brooklyn. Connecting a linear series of 8 parking lots through the heart of Downtown, a new street will promote tax revenue and walkability and promote the short, Jane-Jacobs style blocks that were destroyed during the 1950s.

This is needed in particular within an area where blocks are currently too wide to support construction with efficient window frontage (250 feet). More material is available through the links on the page.

Please click "I want this fixed too!" to vote for the issue, and add your ideas and comments.

If your comment is featured in the local media, you will win a cash prize. If a drawing that you upload is featured (e.g., of a proposed new building on the site), you will win two cash prizes.

If one were going to do something like this in Philly, what would be some good areas to do it? I've always wondered if something better could be done with that bridge area in Old City.
