I cant sleep at night anymore. I cant get to bed...and once I do, I wake up about an hour later wide awake. This morning I was up at 4 sitting in bed looking out the window.
I have tried drinking myself to sleep (which I am very good at, btw), but I will then end up waking up at 4 in the morning thirsty as hell and my left eye will hurt (I have no idea why, but it does when I have been drinking). I will then go back to sleep and wake up hungover around 8 am...
I figure that smaoking a bowl or joint before bed may help my problem. I really dont want to do the whole sleeping pill thing. I wont be smoking in bed, so I figure that the worst thing that could happen is I wake up every morning craving the Lumberjack breakfast from Denny's
I take Melatonin and it works amazingly. Puts me to sleep softly (I don't pass out) and I don't wake up groggy like with other sleep aids (even if I only have time for 5-6 hours sleep).
weed never hurt anyone...i say smoke to your hearts content as long as it doesn't effect your job performance...i personally love smoking too but I don't smoke on the weekdays since i have problems waking up when i smoke the night before
somehow, i think those last 3 comments go together.
melatonin is good cause it's natural and cheap. there aren't any known side affects, but they are studying if it screws up your internal clock over long term use. For me, it's been nothing but good. Could be a placebo though...
mdler, don't do that. I really wonder if you don't have some dietary issues...what about tea? Isn't there some decaffeinated tea that you could drink that might help? Also, the essential oil lavender is excellent for sleeping.
That's why I said strenuous exercise. Every day. Yoga and walking are not strenuous. Well, ok, if it's got to be yoga, then Power Yoga in santa monica is acceptable, because that class is strenuous. But your average yoga practice does not appear to fall under that heading. You need to sweat, get your heart rate way up, and pound your muscles into jelly. Then when you arrive home you will fall gratefully into bed and be out like a light.
Build yourself a swell nice boat , like a Cyber-Boat Longboat, cut from flatterned 3D paneling and a crazy frame system adding Viking ships abilities to your cutting edge boat design , outboard or sail or both.
nah, overt frustration...ideas keeping you up as you try to sleep...design of any sort will not lead to good sleep...you need some intermediary off time before bed so that your brain can rest as opposed to racing during sleep.
"vindpust- did you really just turn a thread about smoking pot to fall asleep into a 3DH discussion? WHY???????????????"
Beacurse if you don't want a super vessel then if you want a space ship, 3D-H also provide the framework for that, and cutting sheet with a jigsaw are easy, it's acturly funny to build things, apriciate the joy of it, it work and alway's did. Now if you wan to build a boat or a plane, you need drawings, modern easy plans, so easy any idiot can make it. Cyber-Boat is just nice design, no one ever claimed any different.
It can't be too hard to get a medical marijuana card in California. Don't you L.A. archinecters have a Cannabis Club like in S.F.? I'm a really light sleeper, and the periods of life when I've been a pot smoker have resulted in much deeper and restful sleep. When I'm through at school in Michigan, I can't wait to move back to California or Holland!
reading often puts me to sleep. james joyce has a book of short stories called the dubliners that i feel is perfect. the stories are just long to thoroughly draw you in and distract you from your own thoughts but short enough that you can still finish them before falling asleep.
as a back up plan, maybe just don't sleep. stay up all night posting on archinect and probably next day feel tired and sleep in the manner of a little quiet baby that nighttime.

a visit to iceland might also be a good idea. cool soothing landscapes of glass-like ice and steam and moss that are populated by trolls and fairies are great relaxants.
the exercise suggestion is pretty good too. when i trained for a marathon last year i found myself sleeping like a rock at the end of the day and waking up pretty easily too...although i often felt like taking an afternoon nap which could be a problem on work days and the boss my not like an explanation of "i'm sleeping because i'm training for marathon now leave me alone please"
if i have more suggestions i'll share them after my next drink
My girlfriend got smoked some pot last night and we ended up looking at some drawings of furniture that I'm designing. She said she loved the drawings, which she has seen before. It's hard to explain the conversation, but what I got out of it is that when she's high and looking at my drawings, she sees what I see when I'm making them.
I just thought that was kinda funny and weird to think about. Does that mean I'm crazy? Or that 'normal' people, meaning non-designers, don't see the things we do?
pot just makes me lazy for days. i can't just smoke, have my high, and move on with my life. if i'm gonna smoke i need a solid week of down time. and i don't really know any long term users whom smoking has really worked out for, either. most people i know just got generally lazy, lost jobs, let their houses go to shit, couldn't make car payments, etc...
do i think it should be legal? of course! but i don't think i would do it much even if it was.
dude, take up marathon running or something. i dated this runner one time who was amazing in the sack. she had some freakin' stamina and a set of legs you wouldn't believe...too far. sorry.
so I think I'm going to start smoking pot
here is my dilema...

Mdler
I say go for it. But make sure you get a doctor's recommendation.
maybe my not being able to sleep is an evil side effect of my crazy internet porn addiction
I take Melatonin and it works amazingly. Puts me to sleep softly (I don't pass out) and I don't wake up groggy like with other sleep aids (even if I only have time for 5-6 hours sleep).

i say give it a shot and see how you react to it
wait, mdler doesnt smoke pot already?
melatonin has 0 effect on me :-(
WhatToDo
Melatonin is supposed to improve my sex life...sign me up!!!!!!!
hi Tumbles
I recommend daily strenuous exercise. I swear, it helps.
make sure its Organic. NM just passed a law you can have your own plants too.
the reason alc hurts our cells is because its a toxin and oxidizes in your body.
somehow, i think those last 3 comments go together.

yeah man, it helps.
puts me to bed really nice! =D
and it's all natural!
errr...last 3 before jonas
percocet (just kidding)...pot can actually cause your brain to go off into imagination land...which is not good for going to sleep.
rationalist had the best advice...get a good jog in or workout in before bed...you will sleep well.
even when I do yoga or go on a walk before bed, I cant sleep
mdler, don't do that. I really wonder if you don't have some dietary issues...what about tea? Isn't there some decaffeinated tea that you could drink that might help? Also, the essential oil lavender is excellent for sleeping.
I meant don't do pot....you'll open yourself up to a host of other issues. Go for a run or a bike ride or something, that will help....
not yoga or a walk...run...sweat...get tired...go play soccer..or percocet.
I personally take Ambien maybe three times a month...it is alright...it works most of the time I am having a hard time getting to sleep.

building a boat will not help you sleep...although it might help make you throw up.
dude, you just need a woman.
per, i would love to get stoned with you.
or a 4' bong.
vindpust- did you really just turn a thread about smoking pot to fall asleep into a 3DH discussion? WHY???????????????
i think the boatbuilding may help. good physical activity, liesurely days drifting on the water. i'd look into it.
nah, overt frustration...ideas keeping you up as you try to sleep...design of any sort will not lead to good sleep...you need some intermediary off time before bed so that your brain can rest as opposed to racing during sleep.

no, the real gateway drugs are cigarettes and alcohol.
stop doing LSD and the letter should resort back to normal.

what is 3d-h ?
and what does it have to do with the Canadian studies that say cannabis is the only drug that grows new neurogens in the brain?

mdler - pot is totally a gateway drug...
...a gateway to AWESOMENESS!!!
