It's true. Archinect.com went live on July 19, 1997. Been pimpin' architecture for 10 years!

Stay tuned, later today we'll be opening up preregistration to Archinect.NET, Archinect's upcoming architecture/design community network site.

god, my life would be so much more boring (and productive?) without this. I can't thank you enough for the countless hours I've spent in studio and the office scouring (sp?) the depths of this website.

Happy B'day Archinect! Best wishes for the next 10 years.

Here's your birthday horoscope (compliments of astro.com):

Today the Sun returns to the position it was in when you were born. As would seem appropriate with this transit, today is a day of new beginnings, and the influences you feel today will affect the entire year to come. However, this does not mean that the whole year will be disappointing if today doesn't work out exactly as planned. You are receiving a new impulse from the energy center within you, as symbolized by the Sun. Therefore any new venture that you start at this time will ride the crest of this new energy and will very likely come to an acceptable conclusion. Whatever you do or begin today will bear the stamp of your individuality more than anything else. This is the day to assert yourself anew.

Thanks John, but a big hand goes out to the editors, contributors, and entire community that makes Archinect what it is.

Jeez, the wayback machine is the web equivalent to posting a high school yearbook photo ;)

Since I don't want to be a jerk, as I have recently (and much more stridently) accused others of being lately, I'm coming out of my self-imposed exile to say Happy Birthday Archinect and thank you for so much fun, education, and community over the years.

Now I'm disappearing again, to prep for a big deal meeting in 2 hours.

Happy Birthday Archinect! I think you and me work out together pretty well....if you know what I mean...

Yeah, in all seriousness I'm *relatively* new here, in the grand scheme of things, but I cannot imagine a better place or group of people. Thank you Paul and everyone, and keep up the great work.

Looking forward to 10 more years....perhaps we'll all be holograms by 2017....

and Happy Birthday!

All the old covers are rad! It's too bad most of the Flash ones are missing, I would love to see Josh Davis's. Is there an in-house archive that might ever get linked or posted?

The internet is old. I remember looking up music on Sam Goody in like 1989. My first website was in 1995. It was horrible! But absolutely no cut and paste.

Here’s to the code warriors, <strike>QA and documentation sloggers</strike> troubleshooters that may very well have spent a few sleepless or restless nights catching up with shifting deadlines and trailing suggestions. To the entire design collective that gave Archinect its unique and lasting appeal; many, many thanks.

Paul, for not selling your soul to a riot of banners, bling and advertorial; for hanging in there 10 long Web years to give us all a place to explore, implode and restore; for keeping this space open to the sublime and the ridiculous; for allowing error and creative expression enough room to foster self-regulation…

Cheers and thanks!

happy 10th birthday - you are now old enough to order your own drinks at the bar.

and thanks BGFH - for making it all happen

and to Orhan/abra, Liberty, Wonder K, rationalist, Mdler, Tumbles, Treekiller, and all the rest - we love you!
