mechanic liens

treekiller

as part of my LARE/ARE studying efforts - I want to know more...

Anybody ever use a mechanic lien to get paid by a recalcitrant client?

what states allow architects to file/or not to file liens?

How much does the paperwork and filing of notices typically cost?

Treekiller,

I just took the orals exam a couple of months ago, here are a couple of resources for the Lien laws in CA.

Architects and engineers in CA can file a design lien if the client does not pay, however an architect/ engineer can only file the lien if the permit has been pulled. Don't know about other states.
