Good books for mapping...

Are there any good books to read that would help me understand more about mapping?

i have one entitled "mapping" i got it at barnes and noble but you may be able to check amazon. umm... i have looked but even that book doesnt explain how to. it just gives examples

What do you mean by "mapping"? If you mean translating the real world in 2d and 3d, you should check out the books by Richard Tufte (classics all) about information graphics.

tufte is grt book, tufte is more of visual representation of statistics. also check CITY SPECULATIONS this book is more of mapping daily living/experiences/complexities of relationships which are shared in the big cities.

i like this one. open definition of what can qualify as map and what a map can describe. and it's a beautiful book.
